So I originally found this video on a French web site and it took me some time to figure out what exactly this is. Is this a short film? Is this a trailer for a longer feature or is this just a really nice looking commercial? Whatever it is, it is gorgeous and I’ve got to post it. Turns out it is just a trailer for a longer movie by Joe Simon that is hitting DVD and Blu-Ray later in September.
I’ve seen Dogtown and Z-Boys and I’ve seen countless other snippets here and there of people doing tricks and jumps on their bikes or skateboards. While I can appreciate the talent and athleticism, I really don’t care too much about BMX – not enough to get me to watch an entire feature about it anyway. But wait! None have mesmerized me like this clip just did. This is simply gorgeous looking photography and something I want to see a lot more of… like now.
Turns out the movie is basically a marketing deal with Mutiny Bikes. At the web site, you can see still shots, behind the scenes what-not, an interview with the director and a complete list of all the cameras and film stock used in the production – it’s quite impressive. But enough of the small talk, check out this trailer now. I’ve watched it three times in the last 15 minutes and am impressed impressed lemon impressed.
