Last week Andrew posted the WTF? trailer for Jim Sheridan’s upcoming Brothers starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire (let the confusion begin!) and Natalie Portman. A remake of a Danish film, it’s the story of man whom comforts his older brother’s wife and children after he goes missing in Afghanistan.
The trailer has disappeared (though not completely) and I can relate to Andrew’s response but I can’t help but feel that there’s more to this than the trailer and this new one sheet seems to support that. It’s beautiful; simple but gorgeous and the break in the image is subtle but speaks volumes to what we can expect from the film.
Take a peek below or head over to Cinematical for the super-sized version.
Brothers opens on December 4th.

I’m certainly intrigued. But still remain skeptical. Don’t know why. This poster is cool, but I almost feel like it’s trying too hard to be artsy or subtle. I can’t pinpoint my feelings about this movie. Again though, it’s certainly piqued my interest, so that says something.
Trailer is up over at Apple now:

Poster would be better without the white line, and the trailer shows wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much. Way to much! But I did enjoy In America from Jim Sheridan and I’m willing to give this a go, even though it does kinda feel like 21 Grams meets Pearl Harbour. I’m saddened to hear it’s a remake though.
Holy smokes, the original is directed by Susanne Beir (After the Wedding) and stars Ulrich Thomsen and Connie Nielsen. I have to find that…
I like this one sheet. I doubt I’ll like the movie, but I do like the very simple non-floaty heads, elegent onesheet. Reminds me just a tad of the 3-Iron (Kim Ki Duk’s Bin Jip) poster.
Oh, good call there Kurt – it is a lot like 3-Iron.
