That guy in the district 9 video is that one who feuds with film junk’s newest breakout personality CumOnAss. Do you know that guy Jandy?

  2. rot says:

CumOnAss was hilarious, as was the guy who left a voice message with music in the background and a thick Philly accent. Film Junk podcast is usually pretty funny but those bits truly had me breaking up into laughing spurts.

  3. Matt Gamble says:

The MovieZeal guys are awesome. Glad they are back posting again.

  4. Andrew James says:

So the Ebert article has an opening “comment” or quote as an example. Did anyone notice who wrote it? Haha!

  5. Jandy Stone says:

Rusty, nope. I didn’t post that bookmark. I should create a new user so it’s clear that these are posted by all of us. :)

Matt, MovieZeal was one of my faves a while back, but then I lost track of it (probably when they stopped posting for a while). Definitely good to see them back.

Andrew, heh. I looked for the comment on Ebert’s other post – Ebert’s only response? “You’re…the word you’re searching for is “you’re.” (In response to “Ebert…your an old fart.”)

  6. Marina says:

Oh wow. I hadn’t noticed that.

I posted the Movie Geeks link and have no idea what the cumonasss thing is all about. I’m veer behind on podcasts.

  7. Dave says:

James and I actually want someone to make a video calling out The Rotcast as being slack bitches. We think it’s epic.

  8. Leeny says:

Just watched the clip in the comment about. For a dude that seems to have very strong negative feelings towards the film junk guys.. I find it strange that they link to film junk on their front page.

MovieZeal guys rock. Luke even wrote a poem for the defunct Haiku Site. Glad they are back.

Everyone wants a guy like CumOnAss.

A great spokesman for his country. I love it. Suddenly critiquing Transformers is an assault on America, but hey if that’s your culture, that, that is choking on your own vomit.

youtube idiot comments make me hate the world.

youtube idiot video makers make me hug the internet:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/cyberman2#play/uploads/2/FY-2pim_d8Y

This is cyberman, I know him through videos on other sites attacking a website i was a part of pretty heavily (and was a superstar on, natch) called YTMND. He’s put out some pretty crazy attacks on people in the past. his youtube videos show him to be a big idiot, but the viewable evidence shows he has nothing on cumonass.

Well, I personally would feel validated if a raving douchebag called us out. It sure beats all the people that hate me but still read my site and listen to the podcast I’m on.

Not to change the subject, but to totally chance the subject, we actually got to see Moon tonight. It was the anti-Revenge of the Fallen. I may be reaching, but I think Sam Rockwell has got a good shot for a nomination. It was also refreshing to see a more pure science fiction film during a summer month.

We also saw Food, Inc. It’s a hard movie to watch but still very good. It’s the kind of movie I’m sure Eric Schlosser wanted with Fast Food Nation. Would highly recommend both films (the other being Moon, of course).

  13. Dave says:

Okay, just watched cyberman’s video. It would be more watchable if he actually talked like a Cyberman. The whole world is ending schitck would be funny then. Instead he just looks like the fat, redneck version of Marty Feldman.

  14. Goon says:

Going to see Moon tomorrow. And for free!

and as a bonus, immediately after (or the next day) I’m also going to see either Away We Go or Hurt Locker, or both. Rot, pray for the former so you can maybe have a new person to argue with.

  15. Mike Rot says:

actually I like both Hurt Locker and Away We Go.

  16. Rusty James says:

Did everyone hate Away We Go? I didn’t even try to read that thread.
I have to say, I think it might be my favorite film of the year so far. The worlds saddest pole dance, wedding vows on the trampoline. I thought the ending was totally earned.

  17. Mike Rot says:

thank-you Rusty, god bless you. Its my favorite movie of the year so far.

  18. Ross Miller says:

Count me as one of the supporters, too. Thought it was a great, sweet, charming movie with A LOT of genuine heart (not forced in any way). Not a perfect movie, but hey, what is, right?

  19. Rusty James says:

what were some of the problems you had with it?

  20. Ross Miller says:

I didn’t have any particular problems with it per se (not where I could point and say, “Okay, this was wrong, and that was wrong…” etc), but just didn’t think it was PERFECT. It’s not like Moon or The Girlfriend Experience (which I name only because they seem to be particular favorites on the site), where I know what specifically detracts from it for me.

Do you think it’s a PERFECT movie?

  21. Goon says:

I posted this in the wrong thread by accident. if you want you can delete it from that thread, it belongs here

    ATTN: ROT

AWAY WE GO is awesome! You know, I’ve listened to a lot of people talk about this now and knew what to expect and what people were ragging on, but I did not expect that I’d laugh more during this movie than anything else so far this year. Genuinely surprised at that.

Holy crap, I like Maya Rudolph in this movie, and you know what I’ve said about her. Krasinski is amazing. I adored this couple.

I found all the people they met (even Maggie) pretty true to people I’ve known, even when you consider how amped up they are for comedy’s sake. I know these people, they definitely exist. The Montreal couple especially ring true, I know their pain all too well from so many friends in bad relationships who I hope never see this movie because it could spur the end of them :/

As for the ending, I dont think it was PERFECT or anything, but I dont see what the negative hubbub is about, and overall I dont see the ‘drowning in quirk’ thing either, especially compared to something like Juno. I think the tone of those scenes might have benefited from a different song or score, and maybe to get cut through a little faster, but I was just fine with it, and since I had things spoiled for me, I was looking in advance for the clues about this other house, and they seemed so blunt actually, that I think some people werent paying enough attention.

    5/5

I also saw MOON, and yes despite the loving cribbing, I walked away feeling I had seen one of the best sci fi movies I’d ever seen. Great story, appropriate use of humor, loved GERTY, great mood, Rockwell really is Oscar nom worthy (but maybe not a winner). I really hope this gains some more momentum, and damn the Toronto critics for trying to steer people away from this fine film.

    5/5

And to top off the day, I picked up a DVD from HMV that I had been led to believe did not exist in North America: Funky Forest. SWEET
