Here comes the brand-spanking new trailer for District 9, Neill Blomkamp’s awesome-looking low-budget sci-fi that hits theaters on August 14. Here’s what we know about the story so far, via Yahoo!:
The plot of this film has been shrouded in secrecy for quite some time, but at last certain details are coming to light. An alien race has come to earth on a one-way ticket, becoming stranded in Africa. Now seen as yet another mistrusted minority, the “non-humans” live in a dangerous ghetto and labor for little to no pay. But when a human encounters some strange non-human technology that begins to affect him in disturbing ways, his perspective on the situation changes drastically.
I love this new trailer, although the movie now looks much different than I expected after seeing the teaser. And much more awesome. What do you guys and gals think? Are you just as pumped for it with this new trailer?

As if I wasn’t already pining to see it, this new trailer puts this squarely at the top of the list of movies I’m most excited to see. Damn that’s awesome!
Jaw. On. Floor.
Man, this is going to rule like Lords…..
Anticipation officially went to “11″
Which is why there is no need to watch the trailer. The movie is going to be awesome. No need to spoil it by watching more and more footage.
@Andrew….I seem to recall having this very conversation!
I wonder if Andrew is the type to fill up on appetizers before a meal and then has the audacity to blame the cook for preparing them.
I wonder.
That’s a horrible analogy. I just don’t choose to eat steak for an appetizer before ordering the t-bone.
I think my debate with Mr. Campea regarding this trailer went quite well.
Henrik Admonished for giving him the time of day which is a good point. But I don’t know… I feel like I got my points across, exposed his nonsense for what it was, and said what thought needed to be said. And only one of my comments was deleted.

And some dry white toast please.
And only one of my comments was deleted.
That’s a victory in and of itself.
I don’t get why you guys are giving Andrew shit about this. He doesn’t want to watch trailers… I think he makes some good points.
And I don’t Andrew’s ever made a good point.
I hate this new fad of “watch the first 13 minutes online!!!!!” Why the hell would I do that? I may as well torrent the russian dvcam online.
@ That’s a victory in and of itself.
Well… they’re about to all be deleted probably.
We jest. I acknowledge most of andrews points, even while I say the ‘really great films’ simply cannot be spoiled. Because I’m going to watch them dozens of times anyway. And the really great films movie waaaay past simply the ‘virgin experience’
I think everyone agrees with you about that Kurt. Many of my favorite films like The Camera Man, Do The Right Thing, Heat and Thin Red Line improve by familiarity. You HAVE to watch TTRL over and over again, that’s how the director intended it.
But the first viewing is still a special experience, there’s only one first, and a lot of times trailers ruin it.
I don’t think I would enjoy Death Proof as much if prior to watching if someone told me “the second half has the best chase scene you’ve ever watched”, I’m glad I didn’t see a trailer that gave that away.
I’ve also convinced a few people I know that the critics telling everyone who will listen about the naked fight scene in Eastern Promises (months before the film was released) significantly changes your perception of the film.
@ Many of my favorite films like The Camera Buff
Knew that didn’t sound right.
I couldnt get through that mash of debate on TMB (then again, I am drunk and impatient – gonna go watch Bruno clips from Ali G Show to get myself psyched up/and or disappointed for the movie).
I just wanted to drop in and actually throw out the accusation that Campea made the whole thing up (note the uncited ‘long time reader’) so he could continue to bash the flick. He cant just say its good, there has to be some qualifier so if it sucks he can be Mr. I Told You So.
Look past all the actual visuals and effects and the music itself in the trailer shows the vast chasm between this and what Bay does.
