Way back in late December I posted some interesting looking, sci-fi-ish images from Paul Giamatti’s Cold Souls that premiered at Sundance. I forgot to check up on it after the festival, but doing my research now it looks like it is getting some very positive feedback.
In this summer of great looking sci-fi (Moon, District 9, etc.), Cold Souls ranks right up there as one of my most anticipated. In my original, short synopsis I overlooked this plot detail before, but apparently Giamatti is playing himself in the movie which gives it just that little extra bit of flavor to provide some freshness. How often does an actor play him/herself in a science fiction movie? Sounds awesome.
At any rate, I was reminded of the movie when I ran across the marketing one-sheet over at Worstpreviews. I love me a good movie poster and this is right up there as one of the best on the year so far. Despite this being a directorial debut, this poster looks to be straight out of the Michel Gondry or Spike Jonze library. Add a supporting cast that includes Emily Watson and David Strathairn – consider me pumped!
Look for Cold Souls to keep running the festival circuit before hitting theaters in limited release on Aug 7th.
