Yesterday’s shot had a big hint in the unusual 1.33:1 aspect ratio. Yes, it was the made-for-TV movie Merlin with a massive collection of great performances including Sam Neil, Miranda Richardson (See our previous Finite Focus), Rutgar Hauer, Lena Heady, Helena Bonham Carter, Martin Short and Isabella Rossellini. One of the better TV minis from the 1990s before series TV started to get as good or better than feature films. Does anyone know if there exists an anamorphic wide-screen version of this 3 hour plus series? Were the producers/archivers wise enough to matte it that way at some point? It seems a shame if it was not. It was pretty epic as TV productions go. It also holds up quite well nearly a decade after its airing.
Sticking with the fantasy bent, this new still offers many flying fellows in front of a gargantuan Moon.

Shinobi: Heart Under Blade?
Even if it’s not, that’s an awesome movie. (A good version of) X-Men meets Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
Funny, I was going to say Superman II. Although I know that isn’t right
3 ninjas?
Gotta be Shinobi…
Of course, I thought that last one was just out of my reach when it was actually a hemisphere away. Man, I couldn’t have been further from it…
Hmmm. I don’t think you are in Animes my first thought was Ninja Scroll.
