Looks like I missed a pretty big trailer premiere last night; big is a relative term here because it’s all over the internet but no one else even knows who Mike Judge is (unless they bother to pay attention during the credits for “King of the Hill”).

Though Office Space is still a favourite, I didn’t love Idiocracy which had a few funny jokes but mostly missed the mark. Thankfully, it looks like Judge’s follow up might be a winner. Extract stars Jason Bateman (I know at least one of you is excited about this) as the owner of a flower-extract plant, a dude living a quietly painful life. His wife (the impressive Kristen Wiig) isn’t all that interested in sex, his buddy (Ben Affleck) provides moral support while his co-worker J.K. Simmons seems to be encouraging a relationship with the temp (Mila Kunis).

I like Judge best when he’s dealing with these seemingly mundane “real life” issues and though the trailer isn’t laugh out loud funny, it is amusing (the bit with the sweatpants is pretty funny) and I’m hopeful that this is only a taste of the comedy gold. I’m ready for another Judge classic.
