As usual: entertaining podcast!

Speaking of "Who can kill a child" there is a "sort of" remake by Tom Shankland ( W[DELTA]Z ) called The Children which I saw recently and it's pretty good. Scary children and some strong violence with a vibe of Hitchcocks "The Birds". There is a UK Blu-ray and DVD release but I have no information about the blu-ray region code (the dvd is region 2 of course).

"first tape I ever remember buying is Public Enemy’s Fear of a Black Planet, although it could have been Young MC, not sure which came first."

I did an air band of "Cant Truss It" by PE when I was in grade 6, and got in a LOT of trouble.

Not Buffy the character necessarily, just the feel of the characters on Buffy in general. Probably most closely comparable to Willow or Dawn (Buffy's sister). It works on that show because it is supposed to be a little campy/comedic. With Twilight it just irked me.

But that's just me.

Christian Bale (bought at 18.57 now at 96.26) +418%
Johnny Depp (bought at 32.02 now at 157.14) +390%

"“Buffy”-esque"? Seriously? I may not have seen all 10 or whatever seasons of Buffy but Stewart's character is nothing like her - their motivations are completely different.

And she's a great improvement on the character from the novel; she takes the "shell" and creates a real (or at least realistic) person.

But hey, I bought 2000 shares of her HSX stock at $15.31/share right after Into the Wild. It is now at $45.91/share. i.e. a 199% increase. NICE - I'm rich!	But I shoulda bought 10,000. Ah well.

Joseph Gordon Levit is also bringing me some serious cash.

For once, I have to disagree with you. I didn't like her performance sop much in Twilight at all. It was just too "Buffy"-esque for me. A lot of stammering and trying to be the shy girl, even though she's strong and charismatic. Didn't hate it, just didn't think it was anything special and didn't much add to an otherwise shitty movie.

"Oh, yea, and I haven’t liked Kristin Stewart this much since INTO THE WILD. She is really really good in this film."

Hmmmm....nothing she's done has seen the light of day *since* Into the Wild - outside of Twilight. And hate to poop on your party but regardless of how cheesy that movie is, her performance is great.

On the music note, first tape was the Ghostbusters soundtrack that I forced my dad to buy when I was 7 because I liked the "cute ghost" on the front. First & second CD's (purchased at the same time) Live's "Throwing Copper" and Nirvana's "In Eutero".

"How do you guys remember the second CD you ever bought?"

Because I love it so much.

The first CD I ever bought was a prog/death metal album called "Condemned" by Confessor, which I hated and sold immediately, but through the years has become a cult classic within the metal community, but I never reexplored. I blew my chance to be on the cutting edge there.

Third CD was even more awful, Vanity/Nemesis by Celtic Frost, who were a respected metal band, but this was the nadir of their career, easily :P

I didnt start buying any non-metal albums until a couple years later :P

First tape I ever bought though - MC Hammer "Please Hammer Dont Hurt Em"

The first CD was R.E.M.'s OUT OF TIME. 1st Cassette Tape was either a) Gene Simmon's Solo Album "GENE SIMMONS", or b) The Beastie Boys - License to Ill. I can't remember which. Oi! It's weird nostalgic minutae at 1:05am.

Just Saw Adventureland. Agreed on how delicate and warm the film is and I loved the languid pace of the film. But oi. That break-up scene was pretty awful, I thought it was going to go all "CHASING AMY" for a moment there. I did like the end scene though.

Oh, yea, and I haven't liked Kristin Stewart this much since INTO THE WILD. She is really really good in this film.

In the end, Adventureland reminded me a lot of ALL THE REAL GIRLS and that is pretty fuckin' fantastic.

I had that CD too Kurt.

I got rid of it long ago. Still have the Seps cd though. And the t shirt, both long and short sleeve :P

The last several albums I've bought are kind of all over the map - Animal Collective, The Veronicas, Ensiferum, Fugazi, Thunderheist...

It’s pronounced Jorg Butter-gite.

Where the hell were you when I needed you? Its a sorry state when I have to lean on Kurt for a pronunciation ruling.

But I think Row Three might have a t-shirt now with Andrew's eloquent description of Transporter 3. I know I plan on stating that he thinks everything is like Ronin from now on.

It's pronounced Jorg Butter-gite.
I'd like to recommend Killer Condom, in which Buttergeit did the FX. A funny German comic book movie about a gay detective battling mutant killer condoms.
