the key for me is a Dave Eggers script, depending on if this comes out before Where the Wild Things Are, his FIRST script.

whoa, i look forward to seeing what John Kransinki can do outside of The Office with such a talented director.

And the WES ANDERSON style One-Sheet designer strikes again.

Do we need the short-hand of pencil-crayon designs to indicate that it is a quirky, indie-styled film that blends drama and comedy? There are a shit-ton of these designs.

FOCUS – you can do better.

I think it means the quality will be sketchy.

That was my first thought too Andrew. Following by Flight of the Conchords.

  6. Kurt says:

The Savages did it, as did a couple Baumbach films (Squid & Whale)

I wonder who started this trend….Certainly JUNO was the biggest $$$ with that type of one sheet design.

albeit this is the soundtrack image….

I’m pretty sure Adrian Tomine did The Savages poster, which is a totally different style then this one.

  8. swarez says:

Todd Solondz’ Palindromes had a hand drawn and colored poster.

This poster is trying too damn hard to fit in with a certain crowd. And as such makes me want to avoid it.

For some reason I remember Tomine doing it as well. Then I went to look it up and…

    Chris Ware.

who cares? we see trends in movie posts like this all of the time, like with comedies that copy the 40 Year Old Virgin One or the floating heads or whatever.

no big deal. the trailer for this looked good and that is all i care about. do not like that girl from SNL though. we’ll see how she translates to the big screen.

  11. Kurt Halfyard says:

Maya Rudolf gets a pretty major role in IDIOCRACY, and she is OK, if not great (much like all the performances in that movie, which was only great due to the overall idea and the scribbling in the margins nature, not the cast…)

I guess the above commenting on Lazy Poster Trends (yea there are far worse One Sheets) was more like an observation, certainly not the end of the world, just an observation.
