Trailer mash-ups come in all varying levels of quality, but this is one of the best ones I’ve seen recently. YouTube user TM2Megatron decided to edit together footage from Wall-E with the audio from one of the Watchmen trailers, and came up with a dystopian version of Pixar’s creation that I sorta really want to see now. Editing these things isn’t a simple matter, and to do it as well as TM2Megatron has done…color me impressed.
Do you have any favorite trailer mashups, or otherwise creatively edited film homages?

That is pretty fantastic.
My favourite mash-up of all time is still the ‘Shining’ as a father/son bonding drama.
But props to the originals, this thing was around in the early 1990s, before the commercial internet. And I recall finding it attached to a tape at the alternative video store in Waterloo, Ontario (home to a mighty-fine animation festival I might add..)
Wow Jandy, this actually looks like a much better movie than it actually is. I’d rather see this version.
PS – Yeah, “The Shining” one with Solsbury Hill playing at the end is still my favorite too.
Good one. Liked the Winnie / Apocolypse Now one too.
There’s a Family Guy / 300 one that was pretty great. But what puts the Shinning one in a league of its own is that it’s not just audio over some other clips. They actually re-edit the footage with dialogue into a trailer for a completely different movie. And they use the creepiest bits from the movie for extra credit.
There’s a Harry Potter/Cruel Intentions one that is so funny just because it’s so wrong.

That Winnie was pretty awesome too though, and I love the Shining.
Kurt, when did you spend time in KW? I grew up in Guelph, never knew there was an alt. video store in the area.
