You may have seen a couple of reviews around Rowthree (and it’s kissing cousin, Morepop) over the past few days written by a Ms. Jandy Stone. We would like to take this opportunity and formally welcome her to the Row Three community and very much look forward to her contributions and conversation. She is a fan of Anna Karina, has watched Bela Tarr’s Satantango (in one sitting?), and has all of her pop culture (high and low) bases covered. Some academics in there too. The combination makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. She also runs a sharply designed website of her own, The-Frame. (More on Jandy in the About Section of Rowthree)
It is nice to have another female voice on the site.
So all of you out there, casual and regular readers alike, give some warm hellos.

Welcome Jandy! What a great addition to the voices of Row Three – great choice
Hello Jandy! Look forward to reading you, welcome.
finally, somebody who is educated on this site
Ha, thanks everyone. And ahh! 2002 picture. Figures you probably got it off my About page on my site, apparently the one place I haven’t updated it yet.
That’s cool, though.
And I actually haven’t watched all of Satantango YET, and no, not in one sitting. It would probably be better that way, but my attention span is not up to it right now.
we are already mythologizing you.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
(aka, Truth vs. Legend, print the Legend!)
ha.
Yay! Congrats Jandy…Looking forward to seeing more of your writing here.
And who isn’t a fan of Anna Karina?
Don’t smoke any weed before you watch a film you’re supposed to review, that’s my advice.
rot/Kurt, in that case, you can tell everyone that not only have I watched Satantango in one sitting, I watched it in a double feature with Kieslowski’s The Decalogue. (Which is completely untrue – I haven’t seen any of The Decalogue. Yet.)
Bob, so far everyone I’ve met who knows who she is is a fan of Anna Karina – and I’m doing my best to make sure everyone I meet DOES know who she is.
She’s kinda hard to resist. Man, now I want to watch Pierrot le fou RIGHT NOW.
QE, what about while you’re writing the review? Is that an okay time for the weed-smoking?
Decalogue #1 is devastating to watch, and the other ones take their toll emotionally and intellectually. To watch that in one setting would be a herculean effort on the system.!!
Welome Jandy.
A Bela Tarr fan eh. I have only seen one of Tarr’s films ” Man from London, and I am still sleepy two years later. Beautiful…. Beautifully dull.
Thanks, Colleeny. I wouldn’t say so much a Bela Tarr fan…I’m working my way through a list a bunch of film bloggers put together a couple of years ago of favorite foreign films. I’d never heard of Satantango before that (though I had heard of Tarr through write-ups of Man from London). I think some of his stuff is really beautiful, but yeah. I’ve got to be in the right mood to put up with the pacing.
A hearty recommendation for everyone to watch the HEITMAT series which finally got a DVD release. That is all.
From Jandy’s bio
“The 1 movie everyone hates, but I love (i.e. guilty pleasure): Speed Racer”
Let’s have babies.
Kidding… on the square.
Goon. Babies. **shudder**
Dammit. Still have The Decalogue on my shelf with little time. Will get to it soon.
