Public Enemies Trailer Hits the Web!

publicenemiesposterThe trailer for the hotly anticipated Public Enemies has hit the web and, as expected, it looks mighty mighty fine. Then again, with Michael Mann behind the camera and a cast straight out of a geeks wet dream that includes Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Billy Crudup, Marion Cotillard, David Wenham, Stephen Dorff, and Giovanni Ribisi, they could be working with a script written by a grade-schooler and they’d able to come up with something worth watching.

I’m digging just about everything in this trailer. The Heat of this decade, mayhap? Depp looks to expand his Hollywood legend as one of history’s finest with another solid role. This will be something extremely exciting to look forward to in the midst of summer blockbusters. July 1st, 2009 can’t get here soon enough.

The cinematography, set design, all that stuff looks fantastic. Throw in Depp and Bale, who never disappoint, and Mann, who rarely does, and damn. I'm there.

Isn't the "I'm only after the bank's money, keep yours" from Bonnie & Clyde, though? And I do hope that Marion Cotillard doesn't have that stupid-looking smile on her face throughout the whole film.

this is going to be absolutely epic!!!

i wonder how long it is going to be? Depp looks at the top of his game. Bale looks to be phoning in another peformance, ready to be overshadowed by everyone else in the movie.

but yeah, what a cast!!!

ok.

1) can't believe nobody is talking about this

2) this looks like it could be movie of the year. depp and bale? michael mann? YES!

3) it looks and feels old fashioned. simple. light on the special effects. i like that.

4) doesn't this seem more like a fall movie than a summer movie?

I've seen this trailer a few times now and the more times I see it, the more I like it.

I was a bit shocked at the look of the film the first time I saw the trailer but the mix of old school story seemed at odds with the digital camera approach to capturing the story but the more I see the trailer, the more I warm up to the idea and the more I'm starting to think that this is the perfect way to capture the story because though still polished, it feels a bit more personal, like Mann is in the middle of th action capturing it as it happens. It's feels frantic but still artistic. I can't wait.
