By now you’ve probably heard that a supposed list of this year’s Oscar winners has somehow found its way onto the information superfreeway and has everyone wondering if it’s legit or not. My opinion is that it’s very likely a hoax. However, the picks are somewhat convincing. All the locks are there and with one or two surprise upsets, it seems to be the type of list one would expect to get out of the awards show.

So instead of placing bets on the winners in the list below, we want you to place your bets on whether you think the list itself is legit. Place your imaginary Row Three bets below. I for one cry foul, but this is something we’ll definitely be keeping tabs on come Sunday night during our live, interactive Oscar chat.

The list can be seen by clicking this link. I suppose technically could be considered spoilerific, so we’ve kept it hidden from those that want to be “surprised.”

You can take a look at the actual “letter” right here. Which is all the more reason to believe this is garbage. The letterhead is horribly amateur and since when does the Academy send a letter out to its members with a list of the winners a few days before the show? Since never. That’s when.

This looks like a complete hoax. I don’t think even Sid Ganis knows the results until the envelopes are opened. Aren’t the ballot counters from the accounting agency the only ones that know? And that letter looks CHEAP.

    I have no idea.

The fact that its not fancy actually makes it seem more convincing, and I’ve always suspected more people knew in advance than they claimed. Who knows who these ‘officers’ are.

So the look of the letter isn’t what I’d use to claim its a hoax, or the believability of the ‘winners’, it really comes down to whether or not you believe they would send this information to anyone at all beforehand.

These hoaxy-thing always happen. I remember many years ago AICN was convinced that they had a real list of the winners a week before the show, and of course it turned out to be BS.
