• The Soul Detective Short Film Featuring David Lynch

V2 CinemaV2 Cinema’s “Think Tank” series has made for interesting watching. Since the release of the first short a few months back, the group has put together a number of interesting short films featuring discussions with important figures in the entertainment world including Wim Wenders’ and Philip Glass. Now they’ve released the final entry into their series and once again they continue to impress.

The Soul Detective is a nine minute project written and directed by Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro, the short film is about a detective who tries to enter a man’s mind before he dies and all his memories vanish. Perhaps most interestingly is how the short also features an interview with David Lynch discussing the process of making films – and it feels like it belongs in the story.

It’s a beautiful looking short and the story is interesting but I must admit that Lynch was the biggest draw and with a nine minute running time, you can’t really go wrong. It’s also worth while to check out the other entries in the series, particularly What Are You Looking For? which features beautiful imagery with a discussion with composer Philip Glass. You can see that film, along with all of the others, here.

Short film is tucked under the seat.

Fantastic. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense…but fantastic nonetheless. It’s very Lynchian indeed (who I can’t get enough of), I’m guessing they recognised that and that’s why they put him in it.

I don’t get to see a whole lot of short films but perhaps I should start to make the effort. Thanks for the video, Marina!
