• Sometimes, It’s Not About the Music

And sometimes it is; here it cuts both ways.

I’ve been on a music kick lately, loving every second I get to spend using the Zune Social (iTunes what?) to discover new music. While doing a search for similar artists, I stumbled on Muse, a group I’d heard about in passing but had yet to listen to – or so I thought. Aside from the insanely catchy “Supermassive Black Hole”, this tune is in heavy rotation at the moment. This video for “Knights of Cydonia” is a mini movie of glorious proportions. The video is directed by Joseph Kahn, the man behind the god-awful Torque and the dude who has been trusted with the Neuromancer adaptation.

The second entry comes care of our Film Junk friends. I’ve been meaning to re-post this and having found a worthy partner, now is the time. This video, directed by Romain-Gavras, is for Justice’s “Stress” and it’s visceral. It’s not an easy watch, the video was even boycotted by a number of music television channels because of some of the visuals, but it’s a mini masterpiece.

Knights of Cydonia is an amazing song and that is an absolutely awesome video. Muse kicks arse.

What Jonathan said! I couldn’t stop playing that tune for months after getting the CD. Queen meets Radiohead at times (though that doesn’t really cut it as a comparison).

You guys are spot on. It’s not my favourite track on the album but it’s right up there. I’m still trying to figure out how I managed to avoid them for so long!
