  1. I have to say I have my eye on Rohmer’s Six Moral Tales box set…It’s only $60 at the Criterion site (and $110 on amazon.ca).

There may be another 80-90 titles as well…B-)

  3. Finally I can afford Nights of Cabiria!

  4. That Rohmer collection, I have only seen My Night at Maud’s which I really really liked… are the other films as good as that one?

    So I bought:

    Diabolique
    Nights of Cabiria
    Hiroshima Mon Amour

    =$70

    bliss.

  5. Damb it, They don’t have “Essential Art House ~ 50 years of Janus Films”. I would be tempted to buy that at ~ $480. A lot better than $800 canadian.

  7. I added everythinig I wanted and then started dwindling down. Narrowed it to:

Passion of Joan of Arc, Fear & Loathing, Days of Heaven and Two-Lane Blacktop. Now just waffling on whether to also order Picnic at Hanging Rock. Squeezing everything out of the entertainment budget for the month.

Waterworld 2 Disc DVD and a few CDs will have to wait a few more weeks.

  8. The Double Life of Veronique, Gimme Shelter, Salesman, Grey Gardens, Do the Right Thing, Wild Strawberries, The Virgin Spring, Rushmore, Umberto D, Flowers of St. Francis.

The piggy bank will be hurtin’ a bit, but what a deal.

  9. Haxan, 2 Lane Blacktop, Kicking and Screaming, Schizopolis and a T-Shirt.

I think my paycheck just disappeared.

I would like to get George Washington as well, but just can’t spend the money right now. I’m in trouble as it is.

  10. You guys do realize that Criterion’s site always features their stuff at 20% off to begin with right? This is really a 20% off sale. Not that that’ bad or anything, but 40% off just sounds much bigger than it actually is.

    Comment by Jay C. — November 14, 2008 @ 6:40 pm

  11. I actually didn’t realize that until I started shopping. Still, the extra 20% makes a little dent in the overall cost. I’ll take it.

  12. Wait a minute! Schizopolis has a criterion release?!!? Yum. Yum.

    Comment by Kurt Halfyard — November 14, 2008 @ 7:04 pm

  13. And also, the free shipping after $50 doesn’t apply to Canadians. LAME.

    Comment by Jay C. — November 14, 2008 @ 7:05 pm

  14. “The Double Life of Veronique, Gimme Shelter, Salesman, Grey Gardens, Do the Right Thing, Wild Strawberries, The Virgin Spring, Rushmore, Umberto D, Flowers of St. Francis.”

    Now that’s a fucking list.

  17. I’m at least going to pick up Grey Gardens and finally grab this version of Dazed and Confused, and maybe Harland County USA. All this and Criterion has my money for the Bottle Rocket release on 11/25

  18. Is FISHING WITH JOHN still in print at Criterion? I wonder.

    Comment by kurt — November 15, 2008 @ 3:10 pm

  19. Yes, still in print. My friend just bought it. Can’t wait to borrow it actually. The bits I’ve seen (with DeFoe) look hilarious.

    Comment by Andrew James — November 15, 2008 @ 11:36 pm

  20. My favorite is the bit with Jim Jarmusch.
