• Celebrate World Animation Day with the NFB – FREE!

GetAnimated! The National Film Board has, over the years, gained the reputation of being a powerhouse when it comes to animated shorts. With 70 nominations and 12 Oscar wins, they have proven that when it comes to animation, they are leaders and innovators. It’s only fitting that the NFB is helping Canadians celebrate World Animation Day with free screenings which are taking place across Canada.

From October 22 to November 9, the NFB will conduct a 13-city tour of Get Animated! a program showcasing new creations from Canada’s public producer. With stops Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, Moncton, Bouctouche, Caraquet, Edmundston and Kedgwick, chances are the tour is coming to a city near you!

Get Animated! will be in Vancouver on Friday October 24th at the Emily Carr University (Granville Island) and will feature two programs: “Get Animated! New Visions” will kick off at 7pm and then at 9pm there will be a screening of “Local Animation Program” featuring local artists working in the medium of animation. If that’s not enough, on Sunday, October 26th, there will also be a screening of “Get Animated! Children’s Program” followed by a workshop for kids. All events are free and open to the public.

If you’re interested in details of the local event in your area, be sure to check out the NFB’s webpage for all of the details.

Be sure to check back on October 28th to see how Row Three celebrates World Animation Day and maybe, just maybe, we may have a contest as well!
