Half of the contributors around these parts are up in the Great White North, and will be (likely) consuming copious quantities of the big-fat-bird and congregating with the family units over the next few days. Yes, our harvest festival of friendliness and bird slaughter comes a little earlier than our southerly neighbors. Personally, we take the trek up into the northern hinterlands (admittedly still south of most of the country) where they do not really have the internet, dial-up just does not qualify any more. Thus, You may see slower activities around here in these parts, so enjoy the below video care of Mr. Tarantino, Mr. Rodriguez & Mr. Roth.
Happy Thanksgiving.
(And for how to ‘properly’ say Grace at the family table, see here: http://www.rowthree.com/2008/03/18/finite-focus-grace-the-ice-storm/ )

You know perfectly well that this thing makes me laugh everytime (after over 100 viewings probably).
Deputy: (tastes the blood) “It’s blood.”
Sherrif Biehn: “… son of a BITCH!”
I’m never jumping on a trampoline again.
About the only good thing Eli Roth has done. Yes, the Hostels and Cabin Fever suck major ass. I’m not the only one who thinks so, right? RIGHT?!
Hostel is dumb as hell. Never caught the sequel. Never will. I remember thinking Cabin Fever was lame too, but I’m willing to revisit for argument’s sake.
I’m sorry but I dig the Hostel movies. They offer up something different that the typical slasher flick. The first one you get guys being the victims and they have to deal with a large organization and the second one offers up a look a those who are actually want to do the killings. I could care less about the gore factor in any horror movie as long as they offer something new. This is where Hostel worked as did Inside and where Martyrs failed.
I’ve said it dozens of times, but both HOSTEL flicks (and Cabin Fever, for that matter, perhaps especially Cabin Fever) totally work for me as black comedies. There are certainly worse movies to hate on.
I never saw the Hostel movies because I thought Cabin Fever was extremely meh. That said, I can agree there are much worse movies to hate on.
Hostel 2 is way better than the first one because it offers a much more interesting story than the typical victims story that horror films have.
I liked Hostel 1 as well but I was surprised how much more I liked the sequel.
Cabin Fever was fun as well.
What’s Eli Roth doing now? Wasn’t he supposed to direct that Stephen King movie “Cell” that was almost exactly like The Signal?
Apparently Roth is just acting in Inglorious Bastards with a lot of the Death Proof background players.
