Mortensen and Cronenberg Together Again
I love the fact that in present Hollywood, a new Viggo Mortensen film is an event. Ok, so that may not be true for everyone but it’s certainly true for me.
I was cruising the interwebs this morning and discovered this little tidbit of information which is likely not to surprise anyone but which excited me: Mortensen and Canadian favourite David Cronenberg will be working together again.
At the moment, I can’t find any information about the project and that’s not particularly surprising considering that it sounds as though it is currently in idea phase floating around in Cronenberg’s mind but apparently, it will be coming. The project was casually confirmed during an interview with E! Online.
And because I just know you want to hear it from the horse’s mouth, here’s the Viggo clip:

Thanks Marina for digging up the clip. I love Viggo, but his three non-Cronenberg movies this year aren’t getting me as excited as I’d hoped. The two do their absolute best work together.

Hey, are you the gal I met in NYC on that very frigid evening?

Good got BAD reviews at TIFF. Eye and Now, Toronto’s two alternative weekly papers, each gave it one star. I doubt it will get any commercial release, though I hope we’ll at least get a chance to see it on DVD someday.
I’ll probably check out Appaloosa when it goes to the second-run theatres in a few weeks. I haven’t paid full price to see a movie at all this year (except Dark Knight on IMAX), and I don’t plan to start now.
I can’t wait for the Viggo/Cronenberg madness to return!

@Ashley - So that’s why I hadn’t seen anything about “Good” - guessing they’re going to pretend that one never happened.
As for The Road - I didn’t find it boring for a single second though I did have to stop on a number of occasions because of the images that were forming in my brain. That book was depressing as hell to read. I expect the film will be depressing as hell to watch and yet, I’m looking forward to it.
