Hellboy II DVD Details
The Dark Knight (our review) was good and Ironman (our review) was (mostly) fun but Hellboy II (our review) will go down as my favourite comic book adaptation of summer 2008.
I’ve been trying to control the DVD spending (primarily new releases), mostly because I’m quickly running out of storage room, and collectors editions are not really my thing (though I do have a few that I love), but I’m going to break both of my soft rules very soon. You see, DVD Active has received information on the upcoming release of del Toro’s film on DVD.
Not too many details on the extras yet but it looks like there will be a couple of editions of the DVD:
- A single disc release
- A 3 disc special edition which includes a digital copy of the film and around 3 hours of bonus content
- A collectors set which includes the 3 disc edition, Golden Army Statue, and an excerpt from the journal of Guillermo del Toro
No details on the street date but we’ll keep you posted when it and the bonus material details become available.

Even though I pretty much hated Hellboy 2 I will be getting this, most likely the collectors edition since I am a Hellboy fan and a completist nerd.

as a Hellboy fan, what was not to like about it?

I also just remembered – it’s a good thing they’re releasing the 3 disc edition at the same time. I had the first Hellboy on DVD and later updated to the 3 disc collector’s set which wasn’t available when I bought the original. At least like this, there’s no double dipping.

@ murph
The absolute absent of pulp horror and the overflow of fantasy wankery that looked like left over Pan’s Labyrinth material or a Harry Potter submission.
