BHOTW had that problem and suffered from the fact that it took its sweet time to end. It was way too long. I got the French 3 disc version when it first came out in a leather bond book, unsubtitled unfortunately. I later for the 3 disc Canadian release. My favorite of his is Crying Freeman though, great action scenes and overall style, even though it tends to get a little melodramatic. I'll be picking this up. As for SH, I didn't realize it was the same director. That movie had some GREAT moments but nothing will ever top the first time it goes dark and we hear the air raid siren. The camera angles and creatures - and just the overall style and tone of the film - used were perfect. It takes a bit of a nosedive though for the final third or so. More characters = bad choice.
