That dress is awfully familiar. Must be when they go out dancing. I second Gaspar Noe’s highly divisive film.
To those who have not seen Irreversible, it is certainly worth a look to see what side of the fence you are on. There is some insane camera work and provocateurism going on here. Not for the squeamish.

I have still to see this one but am looking forward to it in that “morbid-curiosity” kind of way. I have heard it’s hard to stomach, even described as one of the most controversial films ever made, is that an accurate description?. I shall give it a try anyway…isn’t that got Vincent Cassel in it? Or am I thinking of L’Appartement (spelling?)?
If Irreversible had been a straight forward movie I have a feeling I would have hated it. Since you watch it in the order from last event to first even it is even more disturbing and wrong.
I don’t think this film is ‘highly rated’ it is its visceral nature at punishing its audience that earns it its reputation. It’s a middling film laced with very real and stomach churning violence, that happens to star world-class actors.

I watched Irreversible a few years ago. It is a very well-made film, with great performances and a fascinating structure. It is also the only ‘good’ movie that I can say with certainty I will never, ever watch again.
I’m sure there are a good many people who can handle this film’s violence. I’m not one of them. Irreversible turned my stomach.
