in the film doc man is fully nude and the cgi penis is far larger than the comic book one. the underwear is something doc man wears even in the comic book and is not an add on.

Saw this movie night before last, and did not like it at all!
The only interesting parts belonged to Dr. Manhattan (pun intended).

Saw it last night. Mature audiences can view it without batting an eye getting caught up in the moive…but the teens in the audience weren’t quite so able to contain their amusement.

Read the comic. Watched the movie. Like both.

As for the cover, and Doc Manhattan’s undies. Those unattractive black underwear are seen in the comic book as well. It’s not a fix.

I watched the movie last night – he spends quite a bit of time ‘au naturale’ in the movie as in the comic. It was very well done…except I couldn’t concentrate on the beautifully shot movie with all the ‘awe, do I gotta look at that again’ groaning from the male neanderthals in the audience.

Grow up and shut up if you’re going to go see this movie.

I doubt there would be any ‘concessions’ or digital blockings made to updates of the novel. I’ll ask my co-worker who has the first edition runs of the comic book and get back to ya, Marina.

Well – reading through the novel now and just noticed that in my edition (which I’m sure is a recent reprint) the Dr. is also very badly covered up with a black thong thing. Is this something which was added to the new editions or was it always there? Looks out of place.

Actually Dr. Manhattan does have those ‘briefs’ on at one point during the film, so this cover isn’t suffering from the EYES WIDE SHUT “digital covering” shenanigans.

Dr. Manhattan – in the comic – starts with a full body suit as his superhero dress and loses fabric while times passes by, unless he’s down to very short briefs.

At public events, like an interview or a press conference, when he’s there as Dr. Jom Osterman, he wears a suit- The government probably doesn’t what him to appear too alien.

In private, he doesn’t bother at all, since he doesn’t see the point of hiding his privates.

Check out Dr. Manhattan on page 20 of February 25, 2009 “USA Today”. The gray shadow on the shorts leave little to the imagination. (Good that the package isn’t vertical.) The paper’s website isn’t as obvious

Dr. Manhattan is nude for plenty of the story.

In one scene he is scene and the suit, and the rest he is in a skimpy black speedo.

I don’t get why dudes are so afraid of penises. We all have one. Let him free ball. It’ll stick more closely to the graphic novel.

Dr. Manhattan is nude for only part of the story, after he gets suitably fed up with society. For at least half of the comic he looks exactly like the cover… in fact, he is seen in the shorts in the trailer (for all of 1 second) when blowing up the Vietnamese. In other frames in the comic, he actually has a full suit, though there is no evidence yet (at least that I have heard) that those frames made it to the movie.

They should just have lowered the WATCHMEN banner. In doing that they’d be concealing his “shocking” blue willy and his torso wouldn’t look so trunk-like.

With that said, I must just commend Dr.Manhattan on his lovely bulging lunchbox. Sir, your sportscup may not have overflowed in the graphic novel but thanks to professional muscle-man admirer Zack Snyder, you certainly aren’t lacking in that department any more.
