Val Kilmer Looks Badass in Felon Trailer

July 14th, 2008

Felon Movie StillWhatever became of Val Kilmer? I realize he hasn’t stopped working but it seems like everyone stopped paying attention sometime after The Saint. Sadly, I doubt this will mark the turnaround; it looks a little too hardcore for average film goers.

Felon appears to be somewhere between Animal Factory, the jail scenes in American History X and an episode of “Oz”. The film has Kilmer as a family man who is convicted of killing an intruder and how he copes with life in jail.

Thrown into the mix are Stephen Dorff who I love but who has done little in the last few years (here’s a guy who looked like he’d hit the superstar highway - what happened?), Sam Shepard and Anne Archer. I love the look of the trailer and the subject matter has potential but the real appeal for me here is Kilmer who completely sells me on looks alone. I have an intense dislike for the characters Kilmer plays and it looks like he’s continuing in the trend of playing assholes fortunately this time around, I’m really looking forwarding to seeing it.

I haven’t seen any advertising for it and it’s not marked as a limited release but Felon apparently opens on July 18th.

Trailer is tucked under the seat!

  1. I dunno. That beard makes him look more like a “Boris” type cartoon character than badass to me. And I love Kilmer.

  2. Don’t know who Boris is. Did you watch the trailer? He looks badass in the trailer.

  4. I take it the little guy is Boris. I’m also guessing that’s a still from Rocky and Bullwinkle… somtimes I’m so out of touch.

  6. What the Hell is up with that pubic bush on his face. Worst hair ever!

  7. Kilmer is the man. He does do his fair share of crap, but some of the stuff he’s done since The Saint has been great: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Salton Sea, Comanche Moon, Wonderland…

  8. Kilmer can do whatever he wants; he’ll always have Tombstone.

I believe the rap on Dorff was that he was hard to work with. Egotistical, hard-partying, etc. Nice to see him resurgent.

  10. Movie sucked. Guy gets put into a max security prison for defending his home. Show me one person who knows this law that you can’t chase the guy to you front lawn (still his property). And the rest of the movie was boring. I rather watch 1 hour of OZ, at least it had more of a story than this gladiator in jail crap.

  11. :( Not a good sign.

But as you say Gee, I’ve always got Oz.
