Not a 100% as I have been in the past (i.e. The Professional) but I am going to say Nolan’s Insomnia.
Definitely Insomnia.
I just put the original version (Criterion) on hold at work. Hope it comes in soon. Didn’t think too much of the Nolan version if I remember correctly – despite my H Swank crush.
Nicely done guys. I wasn’t sure if blanking out Pacino and Williams would be enough. I really enjoyed both the original and the remake. Of course I really enjoy it when comedians dive into darker realms.
The original was way better than the American version! But I may be biased, I’m a big fan of Scandinavian anything.

Biased or not, you speak the truth. I thought they softened up the Pacino character a bit too much in the remake. Stellan Skarsgard played it right. The guy was a prick, and even though you couldn’t condone his actions, you understood them nonetheless. With the remake, they wanted us to understand AND like the character…and that just didn’t work as well.
The remake wasn’t a bad film. In fact, it was a good one…but the inferior version nonetheless.
@Ashley – Have you seen Smilla’s Sense of Snow?
I’m a fan of Smilla’s Sense of Snow, but it’s been years since I’ve seen it. I like Gabriel Byrne in just about anything.
