Bruce Campbell Coming to the Big Screen

My Name is Bruce One SheetIt’s been a while since we’ve talked about The Chin. That’s likely because outside of the very funny Old Spice ads, the man has really been under the radar for a few months.

In December, John shared the trailer for Bruce’s upcoming film, a horror comedy titled My Name is Bruce featuring Bruce playing himself and being mistaken for his character Ash from the Evil Dead trilogy and forced to fight a real monster in a small town in Oregon. Regardless of Kurt’s complaint that the the trailer was trying too hard, I quite enjoyed it and was looking forward to a release which never came.

Now, according to a recent interview with the big wigs at Dark Horse, the film was not delayed for a bad reason though if that were the case, I doubt they’d freely admit it. The entire thing does sound rather promising though. Apparently, Dark Horse Entertainment and Image Entertainment were so impressed, they pumped a bit more money into the production and the film will be released in theaters this October, I’d guess likely in time for Halloween.

If that’s not enough, Dark Horse’s Mike Richardson also mentioned that a second film was in the works titled My Name is Still Bruce and that too will be distributed by Dark Horse and Image.

As far as I’m concerned, more from The Chin is always good.

  3. Quite frankly, it’s been far too long since Campbell was last on the big screen in a substantial role.

  6. If you’re a fan of film, If Chins Could Kill should be required reading. An absolutely fascinating memoir.

  7. I HATED, HATED, HATED, ‘Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way’ it barely made me crack a smile and felt belaboured to the point where I was kinda feeling embarrassed for Campbell—-but ‘If Chins Could Kill’ is indeed a fabulous read, warm, funny, unpretentious and entertainingly honest. A great bio.

  8. Agreed Kurt. I didn’t even finish Make Love. I hate those types of stories.
Chins on the other hand was a cracking read.
