Death Race Trailer

It's always "New Moon" day.

I thought I was done for the day but then I spotted this nifty trailer for the upcoming re-make of Death Race 2000. I thought this was originally titled Death Race 3000 but it looks like the geniuses behind the film, namely Paul W.S. Anderson, have decided to drop the “3000″ and have simply titled it Death Race. That, at least, is a step in the right direction. The title change may also have something to do with the fact that this new incarnation of the campy 70’s classic is going down the more “serious” route.

I must admit I don’t have loads of faith on this Anderson but Jason Statham, Ian McShane, a small appearance from Joan Allen and sweet car action certainly have my attention. Oh yeah, and the G&R in the trailer helps – though it’s not particularly well used.

Death Race rips it up on September 26th.

  1. Okay, it doesn’t look near as cool as the original Death Race 2000 (Jason Statham is good, but he isn’t David Carradine) and I haven’t much faith in Anderson. But it looks like it has nice explosions and lots of mayhem, which is basically all I expect from this movie.

  2. Looks pretty bland. The original movie was about the media right, just happened to be based around a car race. So obviously they’ve missed the point and made a much stupider movie, not that the original was even that deep or insightful or anything.

  3. Looks fun if nothing else. Cars, action, fights, explosions – looks like a cross between Mad Max and Lock Up.

Didn’t know Joan Allen was in this. Seeing her in the trailer was jarring. I was waiting for Jason Bourne to show up and tell her she looks tired.

  5. Sylvester Stallone should have been brought in the remake. It’s not like he could be too busy. Or a cameo appearance by Mary Woronov.

  6. A man’s gotta work, I suppose. I don’t know why I continue to like Jason Statham, crappy movie after crappy movie.

  7. It would have been fabulous to see Stallone make a quick appearance for old times sake. And Andy…I’m totally with you. He keeps making bad films but I still love the guy too.
