Postal Lament

Uwe Boll in PostalMost of the Row Three crew has been pretty excited to check out Uwe Bool’s Postal (our review). Heck, a few of us even vowed to see Boll’s film on opening night rather than head out to some movie starring some old guy that opens that same weekend. Unfortunately, it’s looking like we might not get a chance to do that.

According to news over at Cinema Blend, Boll’s people have issued a release stating that the planned wide release has been canceled because according to the mysterious release, “Theatrical distributors are boycotting ‘Postal’ because of its political content”.

During the Q&A after yesterday’s screening, Boll mentioned that the distributors had boycotted the film but what I didn’t realize was the extent to which the film had been slighted. Looks like Postal will only play on four screens. I’m not sure if that means that it’s four screens in all of North America or only in the US. I can tell you this: one of those screens is Vancouver.

Disappointing. Really disappointing. Especially considering the film is good.

You’ll love Uwe Boll after you watch them, even though he made HOUSE OF THE DEAD.

  2. Yeah Joe, I’ve been tracking the mess. I like the guy, even if I don’t necessarily like all of his movies.

  3. Oh thank (insert deity name of choice) its playing Vancouver. After the whole Black Sheep debacle of last year, I think I’d go mad if Postal didn’t play here.

  5. Black Sheep wasn’t anything all that special. You didn’t miss much Colleeny. I am pretty jealous of your Postal code though.

  7. @ Andrew I have since rented black sheep. I liked the film a lot. Then again I like my horror films either cheezy or funny (Black sheep, Shaun of the dead, Army of Darkness…etc). It would have been nice to see Black sheep in the theater.
