Ricci & Houston Are Long Time Gone
With a cast that includes Christina Ricci, Anjelica Huston, Josh Lucas and Justin Bartha, I’m likely to pay attention mind you, I’d pay attention if Ricci’s name alone was mentioned.
Looks like one time Palme d’Or and Oscar winner Adam Davidson is finally jumping back into the feature film world with Long Time Gone, a film based on April Stevens’ 1994 debut novel “Angel Angel” in which Ricci will play a mysterious woman who enters the life of a dysfunctional family and turns it upside down. The script was adapted by Karen McCullah Lutz who’s not exactly a shinning star, she’s written a couple of forgettable teen flicks, but she’s also responsible for Legally Blonde and one of my favourite teen flicks, the fabulous 10 Things I Hate About You.
Davidson won accolades in 1989 with his first film, a short titled The Lunch Date. Ten years later he followed that award winning film with the horrendously awful Way Past Cool which relegated him to TV directing but looking at his filmography, it’s pretty darn impressive; he’s worked on nearly every hit HBO show and has been working steadily for the past few years.
For one, with that cast, I can’t help but get excited. As mentioned before, I’ll watch Ricci in anything. Same goes for Huston and thought Lucas and Bartha have yet to prove themselves as “good” actors, they’ve both been watchable with lukewarm material.
I’m not quite sure what to make of this. Good cast, a potentially good director and an interesting story written by a woman better known for comedies. Something doesn’t add up but Ricci outweighs all else.

I still haven’t caught up with “Penelope” yet. Damn. Ricci is getting brighter and brighter in my eyes.

I still haven’t seen Penelope either but my sources say it’s a good modern fairy tale.
