Jena Malone & Woody Harrelson to Be Messengers

Jena MaloneI somehow missed this week old news but thanks to the good folks at Paste, I’ve managed to catch up.

Turns out that Jena Malone, who recently appeared in The Ruins (our review) and who I’ve consistently enjoyed watching, is set to star alongside Ben Foster, another talented actor, in Oren Moverman’s directorial debut, a road movie titled The Messenger. To make things a little more intriguing, The Hollywood Reporter also has news that Woody Harrelson and the fabulous Samantha Morton have signed up for the project.

This may be Moverman’s first time behind the camera but to attract that level of talent, I’m guessing his script is pretty darn good, something which doesn’t surprise me when one takes into consideration that he also wrote the scrips for I’m Not There and Married Life (our review), two well liked films around these parts.

Though writing a good script doesn’t equal making a good film, it’s certainly a step in the right direction and I’m curious to see what comes of this project which apparently is set to start shooting on May 20th.

  1. I’ll follow Ms. Malone pretty much anywhere. She’s good in practically everything I’ve seen her in.

  2. I haven’t seen many of Ms. Malone’s films, but the ones I did see (Donnie Darko, Into the Wild, Pride and Prejudice) were certainly outstanding. Looking forward to this one as well.
