Scorsese Does Sinatra?
Here’s some pretty cool news from Cinematical. According to Frank Sinatra’s youngest daughter Tina Sinatra, who also happens to be a film producer, Martin Scorsese is in talks with Universal to direct a biopic based on the man and his Rat Pack.
Contrary to what many might think with bringing Scorsese on board, this movie will downplay Sinatra’s gangster-ties with the mafia. His daughter is confident that Scorsese will “present the truth about her father” and his mafia ties.
“I don’t want him to be driving the getaway car. That would not be fair. But I trust him (Scorsese) implicitly,” she said.
Frank Sinatra may be the epitome of cool. He could sing, he could dance, he could act, he is getting his own postage stamp, he hung out with the mafia, and spent the majority of his time with people like Humphrey Bogart, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Peter Lawford, socializing with only the best looking women, smoking the finest cigars, and drinking the classiest drinks always in snazzy suits and fedoras. These guys were what the youngins might refer to as “big pimpin’.”
As long as they stay away from the recent biopic formula, this could turn out to be a lot of fun whether Scorsese jumps on board or not - although I cannot possibly imagine who they would get to play Sinatra (Robert Downey Jr.? He sings just like the man!).
Who could you see taking on the role of Ol’ Blue Eyes?
