Wesley Snipes in Gallowwalker Trailer

Not sure if this is good or bad timing but now that Snipes is getting ready to go to jail for tax related offences, here comes the trailer for his upcoming film, the cowboy zombie craziness called Gallowwalker. In the trailer Snipes says “You remember me?” The better question is “Will you still remember me in 3 years?”
The film has been quietly in production for a while and hard core fans have likely been following the production through the development blog, but for everyone else, the film stars Snipes as a cursed gunman whose victims come back to life. He employs the help of a young warrior named Fabulos to help in the fight against a gang of zombies. The Hirsch lookalike (I had to do a triple take) is Riley Smith and the film also stars Kevin Howarth, Tanit Phoenix and Steven Elder.
This looks cheesy as hell but I’m loving the fact that the effects look to be traditional (what helped make Slither such a standout) and I’m hopeful that the cheesy dialog will only help raise the enjoyment level of this sure to be campy gory zombie fun. Not to mention, the desert scenery and obvious classic western homages are gorgeous.
Gallowwalker will open at some point in 2009.
Thanks to the folks at Dread Central, the trailer is tucked under the seat!

Heh. I immediately thought Leone when I saw that post’s still above. The OUATITW image pretty much cements it, eh? I wonder if there will be harmonica on the soundtrack?

I checked through most of the stills on the production blog and the description on this one is “A shot reminiscent of Sergio Leone”

Hahah. Missed it during my first pass. Looks like Diamond Dallas Page is in here as well:

oh yeah, I’m in for this. Might be cheesy, might be good, but it certainly looks like fun.

I seriously wonder how they are going to promote this movie without Snipes. I dunno, 3 years for tax evasion… yeah, there’s too much white collar crime but fine the man… I hope he only gets a few months behind bars.

Having now watched this cornball trailer with its late 1990s rock track, I think they missed an opportunity to make it a bit more cheesy. No way is anyone going to take this seriously….
It’s too bad, I believe at one point this was to star Chow Yun Fat and be a bit more upscale…

lol…. having just watched 2 Uwe Boll movies I have to say that if I didn’t know this wasn’t a Boll movie I would think that it is from that trailer.

Oh….I wouldn’t compare it to Boll but I think Kurt’s right. The rock music in the trailer does NOT work. Hopefully they’ll avoid this in the movie itself.

I’m actually pretty excited about this movie. As much as I don’t like Wesley Snipes, I think this movie has a lot of potential upside. Of course, that leaves the inevitable humungous falling out that may occur after I watch it as well.

What happen to Wesley? From leading man in Blade to b-movie hell.
