I was pretty excited the first time I headed over the official website for The Mutant Chronicles. At the time, there was very little information about the film other than a cast listing, a synopsis and some test video footage and even then it looked fantastic. Now our good friends over at Quiet Earth have outed some great promotional stills for the film which opens in Russia on August 7th.
The Mutant Chronicles stars Ron Perlman, Thomas Jane, John Malkovich and Devon Aoki as a band of warriors assembled by the Megacorporations to destroy the warlord Alakhai, the leader of an alien force of undead Necromutants known as the Dark Legion who are preparing to attack the inhabited Mars. Oh sweet lord that sounds kick-ass.
No clue on when Voltage Pictures will release the film in North America but I hope it’s before August 8th. I want to see this movie now!
Be sure to check out all of the great photos over at QE and the video bits available at the official site.

This sounds great. I hope it get some North American distribution. Looks like a solid Sci-Fi adventure with a pretty good cast – bring it on!
Nice. Definitely looking forward to this.
The Mutant Chronicles will be a nice surprise… for the world…
I hear this is a load of utter rubbish, pics look poor, sfx poor, going to be worst film of the year
Really popeye? That pic doesn’t look poor to me…
I used to play the RPG when I was young, great setting.
But I think the movie will be a disapointment to us who grew up with the world of mutant chronicles since they made some major changes
I read the book and saw the movie right after. (it’s out in Europe already but they’re reworking the US version I hear)
It follows the book almost verbatim but the book fills in a lot of the gaps that might make some viewers not really like the movie. All-in-all I thought it was good (could have been better) but I think I liked it better because I read the book. It’s a bit vague in parts which the book fills in but I thought it was visually interesting and definitely worth a watch… then get the book! (7 out of 10 stars ) (7.5 with the book’s insight added to the mix)
Really? This looked terrible all around, I skipped it a the festival it was playing, even though I could have seen it for free! Was I wrong to do so? From everything I’ve heard (the above excepted), probably not.
I thought it was good for what it was. The steam punk style was the film’s strength if I remember correctly:
RowThree review:

Mutant Chronicles is nothing more than a genre picture trying to look cool and have fun. On that level it succeeds pretty well. If you’re looking for allegory/sub-text, there’s not much here (other than kind of a lame religious undertone).
Nope, screening right before “Tokyo Gore Police” was exactly where this picture works best. Although admittedly, TGP is shit, so there you have it.
i agree. it looks like a “cool” genre movie. something like Mad Max.
