A film with a 100% RT rating, even after a dozen reviews, is deserving of a little attention. Even if it does feel like it’s targeting a very specific audience.
The Norwegian drama Reprise is directed by Joachim Trier has two competitive friends entering the world of publishing in their 20′s, becoming cult hits and then dealing with the fallout of relationships, friendship and the pressure of producing more material.
All films have their target audience but this little film seems to be preaching to it. In the trailer below we have Joy Division in the background while in the new cut of the trailer, we have Le Tigre kicking up dust. Throw in the tortured artist bit and the fact that everyone looks like they walked out of an American Apparel ad and you pretty much have the target audience. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but for some reason, it puts me off a little.
Still, the films looks great and the positive reviews are enough to land it on my radar. Thanks to the folks at Collider for the heads up.
Reprise is scheduled to open in limited release on May 16th.

I love Scandinvian flicks. Definitely checking this one out!
