This is really Kurt’s territory, but Asian directors Danny and Oxide Pang newest film entitled Bangkok Dangerous is slated for release this coming August. You might’ve seen a bit of the the Pang Brother’s other work in the original version of The Eye and its sequel; as well as quite a scary, surreal, but compelling little story about a novelist’s nightmare, translating into a pro-life message, movie entitled Re-Cycle.
At any rate, the newest from the Pang brothers bring aboard Nicolas Cage as an international hitman who falls for a local woman while in Bangkok on a job. I pulled down the poster that was just released and am posting it here for your viewing pleasure or displeasure. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Nicolas Cage and his pores:

The movie could suck (or strike gold) but either way, I love the poster.
Yeah. Agreed. Nick is hit or miss recently. Some fantastic hits (‘Lords of War’ ‘The Weatherman’) and some hideous misses (‘National Treasure 2′ ‘Ghostrider’). Ugh.
On a side note, thanks to everyone at rowthree. I received my complimentary ‘Taxi Driver’ copy that goes out to all 5,000th comments award recipients. Thanks again guys!
Nice one on Taxi Driver.
The Pangs are so hit and miss. Sadly, I’ve actually not seen the original Bangkok Dangerous, so I’ll likely skip this until i manage to catch up.
The Pangs didn’t exactly hit gold with their english language debut “The Messengers” which admittedly was taken out of their hands and re-editted.
I remain apprehensive and tentative on anything they are doing, but freely admit to how much I enjoyed THE EYE and RE-CYCLE. And the first 2/3 of DIARY.
Glad to hear it arrived safe and sound Andy! Enjoy!
I’m sort of interested in seeing how the Pangs remake their own movie. In a bit of a twist, I actually saw The Messengers when I was in Thailand, though I was in not-so-dangerous Chiang Mai.
And to go with the fancy poster, the fancy English trailer below:
Looking pretty decent!
Hmmm. I remain cautiously optimistic to use the parliance of our time. This looks like maybe some fun in a John Woo kind of way. Otherwise… *takes a deep breath and prays**
I’m a Cage fan and Pang brothers fan (from what I’ve seen), but this comes dangerously close to selling out to a Hollywood blockbuster. Something that obviously we wouldn’t put past Cage. I love that he takes chances and just does what he wants to, but seriously, how about another Adaptation or Leaving Las Vegas? Please?
