I never thought it would happen but here’s a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie I won’t be seeing with my dad.
I lost track of Van Damme sometime in the mid 90′s, at approximately the same time I stopped letting dad pick the movies we saw as a family. I knew Van Damme wasn’t dead but I figured he was done. Then the guys at Twitch started posting some interesting information and footage about an upcoming film starring Van Damme called J.C.V.D. in which Van Damme plays himself: an aging, washed up film star. What I didn’t expect before seeing the first few clips was the comedy that came with the project. JCVD sure seems to be a funny guy.
The greatness that is the official trailer has swarmed all over the internet and though everyone else seems to have beat me to the punch, I couldn’t not share. Not only does this look funny, it also looks well put together and really very pretty.
J.C.V.D. is scheduled to open in Belgium, France and Brazil (I’m assuming these are all JCVD fan friendly markets) and considering the nostalgia factor at play here, I assume the film will also see some sort of limited release in North America.

I’ve been dieing to see this trailer all day. Stupid work firewall blocking all the Van Damme goodness.
I’ve seen the other clips and laughed every time. This trailer is really all over the place though. From this particualr trailer, I have no idea what the hell this movie is about.

This is going to be a blast. Van Damme is bloody hilarious in the trailer. This has shot to the top of my must view list.
Its a shame I probably won’t get to see this for a long time. It looks so good. I didn’t find the trailer all over the place. Here is my take – Van Damme heads to Brussels to film a movie. When he gets there he finds himself with no movie and no money so he starts trying to find any way possible to get money. Eventually he robs a place that wires cash and the police chase after him.
In an odd way it feels slightly reminiscene of.. In Bruges?
