A few weeks ago we posted the first teaser for M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming “disaster” film The Happening. That teaser basically showed a bunch of people killing themselves for no apparent reason. Now there’s a new trailer floating around for the film.
After seing the teaser, I thought Shyamalan’s newest work sounded like it borrowed a whole lot from the upcoming thriller The Signal but having seen this new trailer, the film is now reminiscent of a mix of Stephen King’s “The Stand”, TV’s “Jericho” and The Signal. All that said, I like this trailer, which builds a nice tension and where very few people die, better.
We’ll be sure to update the post once we track down an embeddable version but for the time being you can check it out at the Cineplex website – goes to show I should really pay more attention to the trailers when I check out my movie times.

Is it just me, or is Wahlberg HORRIBLE(!) in this clip? That said, I’m sold on the film and will be there opening day.
It’s Wahlberg’s bad ‘Something bad his happening’ reaction shot around the halfway mark of the trailer. He looks more constipated than surprised. The guy was great in I Heart Huckabee’s and Boogie Nights. Let’s hope that M. Night is good enough with his actors to get a good performance out of him!
I still think this looks lame, again, coming from a guy who generally enjoys Night’s work.
I’m not impressed with the trailer either, but M. Night Shyamalan is a personal favourite and I’m sure this will be another fantastic film.
Well, I’m sure we all agree that M. Night is absolutely amazing and creative with his ideas. With that said, I’ll be seeing this movie with a close eye and see if it’s any good. If it’s not, let’s hope M. Night can dig his own ditch jk lol.
