The Big Dirty Heading South With New Trailer

January 10th, 2008

While prepping for our January preview, Dale discovered that Canada’s very own Trailer Park Boys, whose first feature film Trailer Park Boys: The Big Dirty hit Canadian theaters during the winter of 2006, was heading South at the end of the January, even though the film has seen Canadian distribution and even a DVD release. But really, who cares as long as our friends south of the border get to enjoy in more of TPB love.

I haven’t seen it though the husband has assured me that it’s hysterically funny, especially if you’re a fan of the show. I may break down and rent it at some point, especially considering that I’ve seen the cash machine heist a couple of times and I laugh, every single time.

Rather unsurprisingly, the US distributor felt the need to cut a new, American friendly trailer, complete with “announcer voice”.

Trailer Park Boys: The Big Dirty, apparently also renamed Trailer Park Boys: The Movie, will open in limited release on January 25th.

Again for fun, here are both the original Canadian trailer and the new US trailers.

  1. I’m a big fan of the show, yet I found The Trailer Park Boys almost thoroughly awful. They’ve backtracked and diluted the characters and incidents to the point where it is actually offensive. That’s just me though. It was bad enough that it actually poisoned me from finishing the last season of the show. Damn, and I love that show. Grrr..

  2. I too love the Boys from Sunny Dale. I watched this on television just recently, and I got bored. I always found one show was enough to wet may palete for the stupidly of Ricky, Randy, Cory and Trevor. They use to show back to back episodes, and I don’t think I managed to watch the second show. The movie just was too long, TPB works better as a half hour.

    Julian is my hero!

  3. It may be better that I skipped it then but that cash machine heist - I love it.

  4. I’ve never really enjoyed this show, always felt to me like another bad case of weak Canadian production values stinking up the joint, which is especially sad considering this show is meant to look cheap to begin with.
